BPIF calls for further assistance for UK printing sector

One industry body has urged the government to implement a new sectoral growth fund, which will help business like those in the UK printing industry.

The British Print Industries Federation (BPIF) has urged the government to do more to provide assistance to the UK printing sector.

It has encouraged the coalition to launch a further sectoral financial initiative to run alongside the Regional Growth Fund introduced at the end of June.

"A sectoral fund would enable support to be provided to economically important sectors such as printing on a consistent basis throughout the UK," remarked corporate affairs director of the BPIF Andy Brown, adding many UK printing companies have so far been left "out in the cold" when it comes to receiving business support funding.

He said the group will be writing to Nick Clegg to state its case for launching a sectoral growth fund, as it believes such a move would remove the "postcode lottery" that presently exists for firms that are looking to secure financial assistance.

The BPIF is one of the country's leading trade associations, aiming to support and represent the UK printing, printed packaging and graphic communication industries.
