Firms that use UK printers to benefit from new data store?
Those who use UK printing firms may be affected by the launch of a personal data store for consumers.
Companies that use UK printers to produce marketing materials could be set to benefit from a new personal data store (PDS), it has been suggested.
The first of its kind for consumers, the Mydex Community Prototype allows individuals to store and manage their personal details and share them with organisations at their discretion.
Chris Combemale, executive director of the Direct Marketing Association, said the software has potentially "significant and wide-ranging implications for businesses and their customers".
"Both consumers and marketers stand to benefit from this initiative by enabling well-targeted marketing that's tailored to the consumer's stated preferences," he continued.
Mr Combemale added PDSs will help the public to develop trust and gain greater control when sharing information with firms.
The development could aid those who use UK printing services to target customers more specifically, which David Dodd recently implied is important in an article for Print CEO, in which he stated direct mail needs to be full of buyer-focused content.
