Flyer printers 'could use Christmas meals to maintain staff morale'
Companies should compensate employees who have to work over Christmas, according to an expert.
Flyer printers whose staff are required to work over the Christmas period may wish to take the advice of one expert and ensure morale does not fall.
Noelle Murphy, editor of Employment Review, said the publication has found just under half of UK employers will require workers to be on standby over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.
The first thing they can do to ensure employees feel valued is to compensate them in their pay packets by offering double time or additional days off, she suggested.
"Alongside this, things like a Christmas party or Christmas lunch are probably even more important to maintain the morale of staff," Ms Murphy continued.
She added some bosses are still offering a festive bonus and others give workers a gift.
The specialist's comments follow a study from FreeIndex.co.uk that revealed a third of small business owners will work on Christmas Day or Boxing Day this year.
