Government 'must do more' to help sustainable firms
The government is not doing enough to help companies that are trying to become more environmentally-friendly, such as sustainable printers, one expert has suggested.
James Murray, editor of BusinessGreen.com, claimed the coalition has "created huge confusion" by incorporating cuts to environmental measures in the forthcoming Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR).
In order to help firms, the state needs to "set a clear policy and stick with it", he stated.
Politicians ought to set up a green investment bank and solve problems related to the planning and grid connection regime, which is currently "a mess and delays large numbers of projects", Mr Murray commented.
He added the UK needs to invest more in renewable energy in order to meet its carbon targets and help fight climate change.
Sustainable printers may also be affected by the news the Trades Union Congress, Friends of the Earth and the Aldersgate Group have written to the chancellor, George Osborne, to express concern that budget cuts to green funding in next week's CSR may damage the economy.
