Greeting card printing 'continues to thrive'
People still enjoy sending and receiving printed greeting cards despite the rise of social media, it has been claimed.
Greeting card printing continues to prosper in spite of the rise of digital media, it has been suggested.
Shutterfly reported 85 per cent of people in the US plan to send the same number or more cards than they did last year, according to its latest annual survey.
The firm stated while many consumers use social networking sites to keep in touch with others, the tradition of sending seasonal greeting cards is still thriving.
"We continually hear from customers that there is an indescribable joy in receiving a personalised holiday card in the mail from friends and family," said Meg Bohnert, card stylist at the company.
The items have become central to yearly celebrations and are a favourite tradition among many families, she continued.
Earlier this month, the author of an article for Rivertowns Patch stated there is a still a strong demand for printed greeting cards, as they are irreplaceable because of their uniqueness.
