Leaflet printers may benefit from reporting carbon emissions
Leaflet printing firms could 'improve business performance' by reporting emissions, it has been suggested.
Leaflet printing companies that are keen to improve their green credentials may wish to report their carbon emissions, following recent comments.
John Barwise, chairman of the Cumbria Green Business Forum, said firms are beginning to move on from the notion that environmental issues are a mere inconvenience.
Reporting greenhouse gas emissions may be the first step towards advancing sustainability, he suggested, as this "shows where energy savings can be made which help to reduce overheads, improve business performance and protect the bottom line".
Mr Barwise stated some managers experience difficulties in convincing their organisation's accountants and boardroom that spending money on environmental technology "is an investment in the future success of the business".
His comments follow a report commissioned by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, which found businesses that voluntarily report their carbon emissions benefit from cost savings, improved green credentials and better relations with investors and customers.
