Smaller business cards being used by Walmart workers

Business cards that are around half the size of their regular counterparts are being used by Walmart employees in the US.

US retail giant Walmart is trialling smaller business cards among its employees.

The firm may have used the services of a business card printer to produce the items, which are around half the size of standard business cards, the Wichita Business Journal reports.

Spokesman for the company Ryan Horn said while the cards are not compulsory among personnel, their smaller size makes them a good conversation starter.

Mr Horn stated although the effect the cards are having on lowering Walmart's carbon footprint is unclear, the items are "a great analogy of the way we're trying to go about what we do".

However, the news source noted the print on the cards has been made smaller as a result, with text saying it is printed on "100 per cent post-consumer recycled paper" being hard to read.

In an article for Helium, writer C V Rajan recently noted using text that is illegible is one common mistake firms make when designing business cards.
