Usability 'the priority' for business cards
Usability has been identified by one blogger as the key element of a successful business card.
Companies should prioritise usability when coming up with new designs to send to business card printers.
This is the view of a blogger known as Aunty B, writing for Smart Company, who was responding to a question from a reader regarding how to please the various departments of an enterprise when designing a new card.
The individual noted the designer, marketing expert, head of accounts, accountant and IT specialist all want different things from the items and Aunty B said while their thoughts are valid, "usability is more important to me than the 'wow' factor".
"It's a business card, not an invitation to a fashion parade," she observed.
Seeking inspiration from existing well-designed examples rather than starting fresh can be a good idea, the expert added, as then only a few alterations need to be made before sending it to the business card printers.
Mike Bova of M3P Media recently told the Madison County Courier firms should consider employing a professional designer to produce their business card, as it will be "worth the investment".
